Vasakronan and Tmpl to develop platform for the office of the future

The Uppsala-based PropTech company Tmpl Solutions and Sweden’s largest property company Vasakronan have formed a joint venture focused on developing the technology that will form the basis for future office services. The aim of the new company – Tmpl Work – is to develop a platform solution that will initially be available to all property companies in the Nordic region.

Tmpl Work will continuously develop the platform based on customer needs related to commercial premises. The goal is for Tmpl Work’s platform to be available in the Nordic market after summer 2020. In parallel, Tmpl Solutions will continue developing its market-leading platform solution for residential properties.

“The agreement with Vasakronan will enable Tmpl to strengthen its role as the leading digital platform for both commercial and residential properties in the Nordic region. This initiative by Vasakronan will also benefit the long-term development of all our services,” says Henrik Svanqvist, CEO of Tmpl Solutions and the joint venture Tmpl Work.

The platform will be based on RealEstateCore, a shared language used by property companies for data linked to their buildings. The industry-wide solution Accessy will be used as the basis for the platform’s access management services. The Accessy initiative was formed by Castellum, Humlegården, Fabege, Akademiska hus, Fastighetsägarna and Vasakronan to develop an industry standard for access management with respect to building resources. The platform will be connected to Idun ProptechOS, an operating system for the efficient management of building data, but will also support other equivalent data management solutions related to building information modeling (BIM), building automation and IoT.

“We consider this investment in a modern, digital customer interface to be a natural step in our ambition to provide the property industry with new digital possibilities. We will make all our initiatives available to our industry colleagues, either as open source or as services offered by companies financed independently by us or together with others. We are convinced that this is the only way to achieve the necessary conditions to meet the goal of creating smarter and more sustainable cities within a reasonable time frame,” says Peter Östman, SVP Corporate Communications at Vasakronan.

Vasakronan and Tmpl have also signed a customer agreement under which Tmpl Work’s platform will initially be used in Vasakronan’s co-working concept Vasakronan Arena. Subsequently, the property company’s entire portfolio will gradually be connected to the platform.

“At Tmpl, our vision is to make it easier for people to live and work. This agreement with Vasakronan will allow us to further improve not only our workplace offering, but also our offering for residential properties and urban districts,” says Tmpl CEO Henrik Svanqvist.

Tmpl Work was formed on November 1, 2019, but the development of the Work platform has been under way since early 2019.
